Reading my way through a very large quantity of books
– Eric Carle, The Very Hungry Caterpillar (but slightly edited)
Hi, I’m Petra! I’m 26 years old, I move around the world (I grew up in the Netherlands and have lived in KS, USA, and Budapest, Hungary), and I love books.
Bet you didn’t expect that last one, eh?
Sometimes I read a little more, sometimes a little less, but in general, I’m a very hungry bookworm. I’d say I mainly read (YA) novels, but I also appreciate detectives, thrillers, based on true stories, romance, or historical fiction every now and again.
My all-time favorites are Harry Potter, but when someone asks for a recommendation I tell them about We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.
In real life, I’m a freelance copywriter, plus I write for a number of blogs.
Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

About The Very Hungry Bookworm.com
The Very Hungry Bookworm.com is a project that started when I was sick. It all started with a severe case of mononucleosis, and instead of working (more than) fulltime, going to the gym and running three to five times a week, seeing friends every other day, and doing some volunteering like a healthy twenty-something, I had to sit home and rest.
I was only able to work about 20/25 hrs a week and couldn’t work out, cook and clean, leave the house, or even be around people.
After seven months (!) I had an urge to start blogging again (I’ve been blogging about a number of subjects since I was 12!). One of my best friends suggested a book blog since I can read and write from my bed and I love to read and write anyway.
The Very Hungry Bookworm.com is a passion project without deadlines, so I don’t have the pressure of people expecting something from me, but I’ll still be able to do something useful on days I feel a little better.
